Beached Video & Winter Plans

"Every great mission begins with a simple belief: that everyone deserves a place to be seen, feel safe, valued, and at home. Within the walls of Burleigh Church of Christ, our missional programs under the Beached @ Burleigh banner have extended to encompass every available space within the building; we are not only at capacity, we are spilling out the doors! We are a busy church! Every week we need to manually handle many things multiple times as we move them to make space for our different ministries.

We believe our next step is to extend our building footprint to create a permanent Home for Mission, and with your support we have the chance to turn that belief into a reality. We’re not just extending our building with more walls and a bigger roof – we’re creating a dedicated space for the vulnerable people in our community filled with hope, dignity, LOVE and compassion. 

When Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred hit, we didn’t hesitate to open our doors and create a safe place for 45 people experiencing homelessness to sleep, rest and find shelter from the storm. This was just the beginning. What started as an emergency response is becoming something far greater: a lasting refuge that’s driven by compassion and powered by people like you. 

As the colder months approach, we're planning a trial to open our doors on a regular basis because no one should have to face winter without warmth, safety or hope. If this winter trial is successful, we hope to open our doors every week!
